Here we go… Lights, camera… – – – hey! I’m workin here!!
It’s a bit slower going than I would like, but I’m making progress. I’m a bit of a diy guy as you will see. A friend of mine calls me cheap – and that may be. But I find satisfaction in building and creating things. I may not have a perfect product when I finish. I may have paid a bit more than if I bought it. But I won’t have anyone to blame on the outcome but myself, and I will learn to boot. I’m sure my wife hopes I do…
So what’s in store? I am finally moving in the direction of making drum videos. I know, I know – that’s been done… I have something different in store. And it will take me a bit to get there. But along the way, I will be able to do some drum videos.
Why drum videos? I’ve been asked, “why do you want to spend the time and money on that?” Well, I think I have something to share. Isn’t that reason enough? Plus, I want to learn about the video side of things. Learning how to market music that I have participated in creating. Being creative… Do you need more reasons than that??
So, the room is being torn down (well, things are being re-arranged). The red python will be set up in a corner (no one puts baby in a corner…) and it will be all mic’d and lit up. There will be the experimenting of lighting, shot angles, editing – speaking of which, I am downloading a new video editing program as I write….). Then, how to sync up the drum and vocal audio that is recorded with the video that is taken… Yep, lots to learn.
But that is the adventure, isn’t it? And if I can share what I’ve learned along the way and help someone else out – well, that is just icing on the cake.
Send me examples of what you have tried in your recording, video learning. I’d love to see.
