Asbestos sucks….

So, I may have started this website prematurely… Right before remodeling my basement studio. We didn’t plan on doing it this summer. But after we started taking a deeper look at things – it had to be done.
First, there was the issue of the dropped ceiling. The way that the former owners ‘finished’ the basement took about 2-1/2″ out of the ceiling. May not be a lot to some, but I wanted that height back. So, when we started pulling that ceiling down, we knew we would find some asbestos tape in the duct work – but not as much as we found ;-(
A couple thousand dollars and 6ish weeks or so later, all the duct work is gone. And looking at the way that they ran things….water pipes and wiring actually should have been routed much different, again – to retain as much calling height as possible.
Well, the walls needed to come down anyway. That’s when we found the mildew and possible moisture problems. We are sure it is just from their construction methods and poor circulation, but now we need to get rid of all that stuff too… No reusing anything….
As we are getting down to the last 15% of operation ‘Clean Slate’, I was finally going to get the chance to see why that back room seemed to have sub-flooring under the carpet when the rest of the basement didn’t. My wife beat me to it and pulled it up. Under the particle sub-floor… You guessed it… ASBESTOS TILES!!

So, we continue with the de-construction of the basement. We are researching different sound proofing materials, making new wiring plans, designing and re-designing the space – but eventually I will get back on track to do what I started this website to do – Drum videos, demos, and even playing and singing drum covers…. Ugh –
Until then – I will be updating the dates I have on the calendar…
You can see me with Jack Foolery, August 31st at Dante’s in Portland OR. This will be a fun one – if you are local, come out!!
Then, I am super excited to be playing with MadWagon up at Billy Blues in Vancouver WA.  This will be another killer show with MadWagon before they start doing shows regionally.  If you are local, catch us while you can  😉
